Climate Overview answers whether the indoor climate meets the applicable recommendations. Every other dashboard in FlowAnalytics describes how much space is used; this one describes whether that space is usable, which is a different question and often the explanation for a room nobody books.

Filters, targets, exports and the chart controls work as described in Filters, targets and exports. The thresholds, the condition bands and the target behavior are defined in Metrics reference.
What this dashboard needs
Climate figures come from climate sensors, and only the spaces that have one are reported. An office with sensors in three meeting rooms reports on those three rooms, so read every figure here as describing the measured spaces rather than the building.
No booking or presence data is involved, which makes this the one dashboard that works in an office with no desk or room sensors at all. Some climate sensors also detect motion, so the same device can contribute occupancy elsewhere in FlowAnalytics.
The dashboard reports CO₂ and temperature. Climate sensors also measure humidity, but it is not part of this dashboard.
Set what the dashboard covers
The filter bar offers Office, floor, zone, Asset type, Time period, Days, Time and Advanced.
The Time filter deserves more attention here than on any other dashboard. CO₂ rises with occupancy and falls again overnight, so a figure measured across the full twenty-four hours will always look better than the same room during working hours. Measure the hours people are actually in the room, and keep the selection consistent when you compare two periods or two offices.
The same applies to Days. Including weekends in an office that is empty then dilutes every figure on the page with hours in which the climate did not matter to anybody.
That is what the Asset type filter is for here. Where climate sensors sit on more than one kind of asset, filtering to one type at a time keeps the comparison sensible, since a meeting room and an open-plan zone behave differently and an average across both describes neither.
How the page is organized
The dashboard is arranged in two halves that mirror each other, one for air quality and one for temperature:
- AI insights at the top, which on this page name the share of poor time for both measures and usually point to the floor where the problem concentrates.
- CO₂ Levels and Temperature cards, two figures each.
- Time in Poor Indoor Climate, a single chart combining both over the period.
- Air Quality and Temperature condition distributions, showing how measured time divides across the four bands.
- CO₂ by floor and Temperature by floor.
- Rooms with highest CO₂ and Rooms with worst temperature.
Everything below the cards comes in pairs, one chart for air quality and the matching one for temperature, so the two can be read side by side. Working down the page moves from whether there is a problem, to when it happens, to how bad it gets, to where it is.
The key figures
- Time with high CO₂. The share of monitored time above the 800 ppm target.
- Rooms with high CO₂. The share of rooms that went above it during the period.
- Time outside range. The share of monitored time outside the 21 to 23 °C comfort range.
- Rooms outside range. The share of rooms that fell outside it.
All four work the opposite way to every other target in FlowAnalytics: the target is a ceiling, recommended at 5%, and a low figure is the good outcome. The thresholds themselves are fixed and cannot be changed, so what the targets set is how much time above them you are prepared to accept.
Read the time and rooms figures as a pair. A high time figure with a low rooms figure means one or two rooms are bad most of the time, which is a ventilation fault in a specific place. A low time figure with a high rooms figure means most rooms occasionally tip over the threshold, which is a capacity or scheduling issue rather than a fault.
Time in poor indoor climate
How often poor conditions occurred across the period, as two series: Poor CO₂ for time above the CO₂ target and Poor temperature for time outside the comfort range. Each point is that day’s share of monitored time in poor conditions.
Poor here means anything worse than the Good band, so time in the OK band counts as poor on this chart even though the distribution charts below list OK separately. The two will not appear to agree unless you know that.
The shape over the day is what identifies the cause. A space that is fine in the morning and poor by mid-afternoon has a ventilation problem, since CO₂ accumulates with people in the room. One that is poor from the moment the building opens is more likely a heating or cooling problem, which has nothing to do with occupancy.
CO₂ conditions and temperature conditions
The two charts at the foot show how monitored time divides across four bands, from Good through OK and Bad to Critical. The band definitions are in Metrics reference: for CO₂ they run from below 800 ppm to above 1400 ppm, and for temperature from inside 21 to 23 °C to below 18 or above 26 °C.
The Critical share is the one to look at first, and a small figure there is not reassuring. Ten per cent of monitored time above 1400 ppm means people spend half a day a week in a room where they will notice the difference, and the complaints that follow are usually about the room rather than the air.
A large OK share is a different signal. It means the ventilation is coping but has no headroom, so the space will tip into Bad as soon as it is used more heavily than it is today. That is worth knowing before a floor is consolidated into it.
CO₂ by floor and temperature by floor
Time above the CO₂ target by floor, and time outside the comfort range by floor, with the percentage shown alongside each bar.
These two answer whether a climate problem is a building problem or a local one. A single floor well above the others points at the ventilation or heating serving that floor, which is a facilities job with a specific address. Every floor sitting at a similar level points at the system as a whole, or at a threshold that the building was never designed to meet.
Floors appear here only where they have a climate sensor, so a floor missing from the chart has not been measured rather than passed.
Rooms with highest CO₂ and rooms with worst temperature
Individual spaces ranked by the time they spent above the CO₂ target and outside the comfort range, each with its percentage.
This is where the page becomes actionable, because a named room is something that can be fixed. Read the two rankings against each other: a room high on both is likely to be under-ventilated and unconditioned for its size, while a room high on temperature alone is often a matter of solar gain or a poorly placed vent.
Two cautions. A room at 100% of time outside the comfort range is worth checking as a sensor problem before it is treated as a climate problem, since a sensor in direct sunlight or next to a vent reports the wall rather than the room. And rooms reading 0% may be genuinely fine or may simply have contributed very little measured time in the period.
Reading climate alongside utilization
Climate figures explain things the utilization dashboards only show as absence. Three combinations come up often:
- High CO₂ in a heavily used room. The room is under-ventilated for the way it is being used. Either the ventilation is adjusted or the room is booked less intensively; adding people will make it worse.
- Poor climate in a room with low utilization. Worth checking before concluding the room is unpopular. People avoid rooms that are stuffy or cold, and the booking data cannot tell you why they were avoided.
- Good climate everywhere with low utilization. The climate is not the explanation, and the answer is somewhere in the Office or Rooms dashboards instead.
The sequence that follows from this is short: when a space is used far less than its neighbors, check this dashboard before you change anything about the space itself.
Using this dashboard for reporting
The same measurements support health, wellbeing and sustainability reporting, and this is the dashboard those figures come from. Two cautions when an export leaves the building.
First, the figures cover the measured spaces only, so state how many rooms carried a sensor alongside any percentage. Second, the thresholds are fixed at 800 ppm and 21 to 23 °C, which are Flowscape’s defaults rather than a specific national regulation. Where a report is being made against a particular standard, check that the standard’s thresholds match these before presenting the figures as compliance.
